Contract laboratories are often faced with the challenge of handling an extensive volume ofsamples. For high efficiency, the turnaround time of the samples and thus the analysis time per sample plays a decisive role. With the SPECTRO Intelligent Valve System (IVS), analysis times can be optimized. Furthermore, rinsing times are reduced, which significantly shortens sample-to-sample times. The required sample volume can also be reduced, which additionally saves disposal costs. In contrast to the usual measuring and rinsing times the use of IVS can, depending on the application, approximately halve the sample-to-sample times leading to twice as many measured samples compared to the standard method. Due to its multi-element determination capability, high dynamic linear range and sensitivity the Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) is perfectly suited for the analysis of a wide range of analytical tasks. Trace, minor and major analytes can be determined simultaneously ensuring low costs of analysis. The report describes the function and performance of the SPECTRO Intelligent Valve System using the analysis of aqueous solutions as an example. Short- and long-term stability, recovery and wash-out times are presented.
