Electrochemiluminescence: the next level in optical sensitivity

Versatility, simplicity, and improved synchronization and sensitivity for the ECL analytical technique.

Highlights

Electrochemiluminescence is the combination of electrochemistry and chemiluminescence. Electrogenerated chemiluminescence signals are usually obtained from the excited states of a luminophore generated at the electrode surface during the electrochemical reaction. Electrogenerated chemiluminescence has been widely applied for food and clinical analysis.

Benefits

Robust, portable, and versatile

Electrochemiluminescence systems consist of a bipotentiostat/galvanostat capable of producing reactions in a luminophore by applying voltage or current pulses. The state of the luminophore is detected by a cell that includes the detector (a photodiode or micro spectrometer, depending on the model). The Metrohm DropSens systems are miniaturized and portable – perfect for electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) analysis.

The instruments can also be used independently as a bipotentiostat/galvanostat for electrochemical analysis with all the features of Metrohm DropSens instruments. Depending on the ECL instrument, the cells can be combined.

Immediate synchronization

Electrochemical and chemiluminescence responses are perfectly synchronized and displayed in real time. Moreover, the Metrohm DropSens instruments allow good temporal and spatial control of these analytical techniques, even when the sensitivity to light signals is very low.

Options and upgrades

All you need, in one kit

The ECL systems are delivered with a kit that includes the instrument, the related ECL cell, a connector cable for screen-printed electrodes (SPEs), a box of 75 units of SPEs ref. 110, and the software.
